FRESHMAN SURVIVAL GUIDE (Upper LEFT)
I worked as an ad-production assistant during the summer of 2014 as preparation for the fall. Working with the Graphics and Production Coordinator, we selected Mad Men as a design (theme) and writing prompt for this 52 page magazine. This publication is distributed to all new students at UNC Charlotte. The 2015 survival guide was is the first Niner Times cover I designed. The iconic silhouette concept references the work of Milton Glaser. Working with a tight budget, the editorial team organized a studio shoot to create the stylized look, using me as model.
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE: UNC CHARLOTTE (RIGHT)
This cover features solid, silhouettes of hands from the moment of the handoff during a track relay race. This story was important to the UNC Charlotte community, as the Relay for Life is the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. I utilized bold, iconic silhouettes to create a dynamic, eye catching composition. The choice of red and blue represents the American Cancer Society. It was a must that the cover serve as a meaningful and commemorative artifact for this significant occasion.
PANTHERS NFC CHAMPIONS 2016 (LEFT)
I made this cover with the help of an outstanding affiliated Niner Times photographer. This shot of Cam Newton on his vertical trajectory over several Cardinals players narrowly breaching the end-zone plane. This play at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC proved to define the game! 15-49 Panthers. Belk Tower demolition (Right)
UNC Charlotte lost an old friend in December when the Belk Tower was disassembled due to its failing structural integrity. Visible from miles around UNC Charlotte, the 142 ft. tower served as a physical icon of our university for nearly 45 years. The cover story highlights the progression and impact of the Belk Plaza Planning Committee. I created the graphic elements using adobe illustrator. The crane is a particularly successful element of this cover, depicting the removal of a segment of the tower.
